] - 19. Gennaio 2008 - 1:00ROME This Greek vase, 2,500 years old, was returned to Italy by the Metropolitan Museum in New York as part of an Italian campaign against illegal trafficking in antiquities. The Euphronius Krater, which is decorated with scenes from Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, was bought by the museum from Robert Hecht, the American art dealer who is on trial in Italy for knowingly acquiring allegedly looted artefacts, which he denies. Italy said that the vase was stolen from a site near Rome. (AP)
