[Times - World] - 1. Marzo 2008 - 1:00

SHANGHAI Campaigners in China have been refused permission to hold a demonstration against the construction of a railway line that they believe could damage their health. The Government intends to extend a high-speed magnetic line so that it connects two airports in Shanghai, eastern China. Residents living near the proposed route have said that the maglev train could pose risks, but an application to hold a protest was refused. It was unclear whether they intended to defy the ruling. Residents said that they expected the Government to cancel the project if it could not prove that the line was safe. (AP)
