Settembre 2007 - 1:00<b>NEW YORK</b> The planned sale of a 10,000-year-old meteorite chunk, right, has been condemned as “insensitive” by a Native American tribe who believe the rock is sacred. The 30lb (13.5kg) rock was sliced off the Willamette Meteorite ten years ago and although its owner, Darryl Pitt, has sympathy for the Clackamas Indians, he will not halt the sale, from which he hopes to make £1 million (£490,000). The tribe said: “We are saddened that any individual would be so insensitive.” The meteorite was found in Oregon in 1902 and is the largest discovered in the US. (<i>AP</i>)
